AI Strategy Assessment — zingerworks

AI Strategy Assessment

Most AEC firms do not have a roadmap for AI adoption. You leave this engagement with one, built around how your firm actually delivers projects, reviewed and refined before it lands.

The gap we keep finding

Most AEC firms do not have a roadmap

In our client conversations, one pattern shows up more than any other. Firms are aware that AI is changing their industry. Some have started exploring tools. A few have made purchases. Almost none have a clear, prioritized plan for where AI fits in their specific practice.

Without a roadmap, AI initiatives tend to be driven by whoever is most enthusiastic at the time, not by what will actually move the firm forward.

The AI Strategy Assessment closes that gap. It produces a concrete, sequenced plan built around your project delivery workflows, not a generic framework adapted from another industry.

How it works

Four to six weeks, three clear outputs

The engagement is structured to move at a pace that allows your team to reflect and react, not just receive. It ends with something your team can act on immediately.

Phase

Week 1 to 2

Workflow discovery

We work through how your firm plans, scopes, executes, and closes out projects. We identify where decisions are made, where data flows, and where friction lives. This is where we find the real opportunities, not the obvious ones.

Phase

Week 2 to 3

Opportunity mapping

We evaluate AI opportunities against your specific workflows, team capacity, and risk tolerance. Not every opportunity is worth pursuing. We prioritize the ones that are.

Phase

Week 3 to 4

Roadmap working session

A working session where we walk through findings and build the roadmap together with your leadership team. The goal is a plan you recognize as yours, not one handed to you from the outside.

Phase

Week 5 to 6

Plan review cycle

We share a draft written summary and give your team time to react. Adjustments are made based on your feedback before the final version is delivered. You leave with a document that reflects how your firm actually thinks about the work ahead.

What you receive

A plan your team can use without us

The goal of this engagement is to leave your firm with something actionable, not something that requires ongoing interpretation. The written summary is designed to be used independently.

Prioritized opportunity list Where AI creates real value in your specific workflows, ranked by impact and feasibility.
Sequenced roadmap What to do first, what comes next, and when to reassess. Tied to your capacity and delivery calendar.
Risk and readiness notes Where your firm is well-positioned and where to move carefully, based on your workflows and team.
Written summary A clear, plain-language document your leadership team can reference, share internally, and act on.

Setting expectations

What makes this engagement work well

This engagement works best when your firm has already done the AI Literacy Workshop. A team that shares a common understanding of AI will get significantly more out of the discovery conversations and the roadmap session.

It also works best when a principal or senior PM is directly involved in the workflow discovery phase, not just the final session. The people closest to project delivery tend to surface the most useful insights.

If you have already started something and are looking to course-correct rather than start fresh, the Adoption Reset may be a better entry point. We can help you figure out which fits your situation.
